Must have apps for NYC
Living in a big city like New York City can be stressful and exhausting at times. You might find yourself lost between the massive skyscrapers, or on the wrong train. Navigating the big city can be a mission but over time you find ways to make it easier. Our team is well-established in New York and have picked up a thing or two. In today's blog post we did the work for you and wrote down our must-have apps for New York City survival.
In the city you have a lot of alternatives to choose from. The most popular ones include Lyft, Uber, and Via. We would make sure to download them all, as their pricing can vary. Also, they send out promo codes and offers quite frequently. You can choose between shared rides or private cars so whatever your preference is, you will find something that works for you.
If you haven't figured it out already, New Yorkers prefer to not cook. Most apartments have tiny kitchens, and with New Yorkers always being on the go, food delivery apps are a must.
The ones we recommend are Grubhub, Seamless and Uber Eats. You can choose between hundreds of restaurants, whatever you’re craving.
We know this app is on everyone's phone already but it is underrated. In a big city, Google Maps is essential. Navigating areas you are not familiar with can be hard, but Google Maps will lead you right to the doorstep.
The subway can be confusing. If you are new to the city, we get your frustration. Ending up on the wrong train, or going the wrong direction is all a part of the subway learning curve. But, we have a solution to make you a subway pro in seconds. Download either NYC Subway or the Transit app. Just find your station and put in where you want to go, and the apps will give you options for what trains to get on.
What To Do and Where To Go
In a city with so many options, knowing where to go and what is good can be hard. Yelp, Groupon and Time Out are great places to start. Yelp will show you top rated restaurants, nail salons, coffee shops or whatever it is your trying to find in any area. It includes reviews from other people, and it can come in handy when options are endless. Groupon is a great way to find coupons for services or products in the city. Saving some money is always a great thing, especially if you're a student. Time Out is also a must. It will give you options for current events, stuff to do, restaurants, bars and whatever you might want to see.
Some obvious essentials include the Weather app, Currency, and Amazon.
The weather app is a must for the unpredictable NYC weather. We always make sure to check it before we walk out the door, and it has proven to be a lifesaver. The Currency app is the easiest way of converting dollars into whatever currency you want. If you’re an international you will love this one! The Amazon App will make your life so much easier. If you don't know about Amazon, we don't know what rock you’ve been living under. It should be on your phone already.
So, that's our top app recommendations. They should all be available for both Apple and Android users. We hope you found some that will make your life easier and less stressful. Happy downloading!
